Mary Lou Grace is a female contemporary artist based in San Francisco. Her practice incorporates hyper realism with abstract forms and mixed media. Grace’s work explores her personal feminine discovery and healing from experiences of relationship abuse and family trauma. Childhood memories filled with colorful characters, familial isolation and the unawareness of societal norms as a growing woman, her work mourns for childhood, the preservation of obliviousness and heartache for the past.
Mary Lou Grace earned her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of San Francisco where she worked for the Thacher Gallery and Fine Arts Department and studied under the distinguished realism painter Brett Reichman. Grace was honored at Carnegie Hall for her gold key portfolio by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in 2019. She has been featured by The Dementia Springs Foundation for her work exploring Alzheimer’s disease, as well as The Furrow Magazine, The Ignatian Literary Magazine, AJCU Newsletter, and Being Patient. Her work has been exhibited in galleries such as The Bedford Gallery, Bass and Reiner, Gllry Garage, SOMArts and in summer of 2024 at Gallery 120710 in Berkeley California. Grace is beginning her Master’s degree at San Francisco State University in fall of 2024.
